At 57, I thought my adventure days were behind me, but my daughter insisted I do this safari as a retirement gift to myself. Furaha made me feel confident from our first phone call – she understood my mobility concerns and crafted a perfect 5-day itinerary including this trip.

The emotional highlight was seeing a mother elephant teaching her calf to use its trunk. I actually teared up thinking about my own teaching career and how we nurture the next generation. Our guide Ally shared stories about elephant families while we watched.

Furaha arranged for me a warm and welcome stay. This made me feel like visiting family rather than just a tour.

Value-wise, this was expensive for a retired teacher’s budget, but absolutely worth every penny. I’m already planning my next adventure with her. Age is just a number when you have the right guide!

Always dreamed of seeing Big Five like David Attenborough documentaries – guide Ally made it happen! His wildlife knowledge rivals any TV narrator I’ve heard.

Started with Cape buffalo in Lake Manyara – Ally explained their dangerous reputation while we watched massive herd drinking. The way he read their body language kept us safe but close enough to see their prehistoric-looking horns and watchful eyes. Incredible respect for these underestimated giants.

Serengeti lions were really scare. The raw power when they finally brought down wildebeest was both beautiful and brutal – circle of life in action.

Leopard took two full days to find. Ally’s patience and tracking skills finally paid off when we discovered female with cubs in kopje rocks.

Rhino in Ngorongoro was emotional highlight. These endangered giants are so rare – seeing healthy female with young was tear-inducing. Ally’s passion for conservation while explaining rhino protection efforts was inspiring. Final elephant encounter at sunset with Mount Kilimanjaro backdrop was perfect ending.

Three days of Big Five education that changed how I see wildlife forever. Ally’s expertise transformed animal sightings into deeper understanding of ecosystem connections.

OMG where do we even start!! This girls’ trip was EVERYTHING. Furaha handled our group dynamic perfectly (we can be… a lot lol).

The emotional moment was when Megan opened up about her recent divorce while we were watching elephants. She said seeing the matriarch leading her family made her feel strong again. We all cried and group hugged right there in the jeep.

Furaha knew exactly what we needed – adventure, sister bonding, and just enough luxury to feel pampered. The spa treatments were PERFECT after dusty game drives.

Value-wise, splitting costs between three made it affordable, and we included SO many extras. Wine tastings, cultural workshops, even helped us plan our group photos for Instagram (priorities, people!).

Already planning our next girls’ trip with her – maybe Kilimanjaro if we can convince Ashley to get off the couch! 😂 Furaha is basically the fourth member of our friend group now!

Baraka was absolutely brilliant! Found hippos actually swimming (rare sight!) and kept us laughing with great humor. Leopard kill was intense nature experience. His fearless river crossings felt like proper African adventure. Camp coffee weak but sunrise over Serengeti made everything perfect!

This was a bucket list father-son trip before Tyler starts college. We don’t always connect (he’s 18, I’m 52) but Furaha created experiences that brought us together.

Ally’s instincts about people are incredible. She gave us space when we needed it and activities that naturally encouraged conversation. The night drive where we tracked leopards had us whispering strategies like teammates.

Investment-wise, this wasn’t cheap, but you can’t put a price on rebuilding your relationship with your son. Tyler’s already asking about coming back after college. Mission accomplished!

At 74 and 71, we thought we were too old for safari adventures. Furaha proved us completely wrong! She tailored everything perfectly for our pace and comfort.

The touching moment was when we saw a very old elephant, probably near the end of his life, being supported by his herd. Harold squeezed my hand and whispered ‘That’s us, Betty.’ We both got teary thinking about our 48-year marriage and how we support each other.

Furaha’s patience with our questions, her gentle help getting in and out of vehicles, and her respect for our limitations made us feel valued, not like a burden.

This was expensive for us on Social Security, but our children pooled together for this anniversary gift. Every dollar was worth it for the memories we made.

Young people – call your grandparents and take them on adventures! Furaha made us feel young again. What a special soul she is. 💕

Ally was amazing guide! Spotted leopard day one which set incredible tone. His medicinal plant knowledge blew our minds – learned so much about traditional uses. Basic camping but clean and comfortable. Food simple but tasty after long game drives.
